During the last half of the twentieth century, the pop music of Spain seemed to prefer a break from the past, embracing a more universal aesthetic and relying on the rock genre as the vehicle of choice for expression. Today, however, contemporary artists have successfully reintroduced folk elements and rhythms such as flamenco guitar and rumba flamenca into their commercial musical offerings. A Night In… Spain veers from alternative to traditional as found in Estopa’s constant fusions of flamenco/pop and rumba/rock represented in “No Quiero Verla Mas” followed by one of Spain’s elating most soothing voices, that of Chambao in “Olvidarme de Ti” (Buleria). This collection includes performances by such legendary artists as: Nina Pastori, Enrique Morente, Falete, Sabicas, and so many more.
